Three Reasons Every Christian Should Be A Part Of A Church
Because Its Biblical
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.Acts 2:42
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Church is God’s great melting pot if you will. He saves us and then places us in an environment (the church) that allows us to live out the Great Commandment to love God and love others. This is never going to happen by sitting at home on Sunday morning watching a guy named Joel talk about how awesome his life is and how awesome yours should be. When we meet together as a church we learn how to love one another and we help each other grow spiritually.
It really comes down to this: If you believe the Bible to be true then get to church.
Because You Say You Love God
1 John 4:20
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
I’ve heard this one countless times: “I love God. I just can’t stand organized religion or hypocrites. I don’t need to go to church to worship God or prove that I love Him.” The short answer to this statement is: “Yah, ya do.”
Let’s say a close friend came to your home and said: “I would love to stay and hang out but I can’t stand being around your family.” What would you say to them? Would you consider them a good friend if they had that kind of attitude towards the people you love? Absolutely not.
God comes to the same conclusion according to…
1 John 4:20. If you say you love God the proof is found in loving His church, your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Because God Has Gifted You To Build Up His Church
NLT 1 Corinthians 12:7
A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.
This last one is somewhat of a no-brainer. God has uniquely gifted you for one purpose—
To be a blessing to your brothers and sisters in Christ. By refusing to take an active role in His church you are essentially rejecting the gift He has given you.
Ultimately you need to be here because —
• It’s God’s will (biblical)
• You love God (and you show that by loving His people)
• You truly want serve God through being a blessing to the entire church
